    Move over mood rings, hello mood prints!  This class teaches students how to use inexpensive printmaking techniques to create original mixed-media portrait prints.  We will use these expression-induced prints to make one large art piece or a set of note cards.

  • Introduction to Needle Felting

    Learn the basic techniques of needle felting. Use these techniques to make basic shapes that can be formed into
    objects, animals, and people! Students will be able to make small projects that can be the basis for making larger projects on your own. Felting needles, foam pad, and wool materials will be provided for use during the workshop.

    Design your own relief image, or bring one in as a muse, to create an original piece of art.  Students will use their picture to make a small body of work.  To finish the piece, attendees will use watercolors to add color.

    From this basic concept, future classes will explore other detailed printmaking processes of Chine Collé, Linocut and Woodcarving to create inked prints.

    Bring a friend, parent, or grandparent! Discover a new hobby & learn the basic elements to design & build your own miniature fairy garden using organic materials in a unique repurposed container. 


    Supplies to be provided by students: 

    1. Small square trug or container up to 24" long -   Upcycled examples: wooden fruit crate, old toolbox, half of an old   small suitcase/briefcase, small wagon, shallow ceramic bowl,   sturdy basket, small drawer (from nightstand or sewing machine),   or square planter.

    2. Hand gardening trowel/shovel

    3. Miniature house(s) and/or animals and ephemera for garden (natural items from backyard)              Examples:  bark, moss, rocks, twigs, toy animals or   people, marbles, items from Goodwill/home
