The Lawrence Art Center has started the new year with a bang!  Come in and meet the new studio tenants, Greg Corrigan & Gary Schmitt.
    • Greg Corrigan is graduate of Herron School of Art & Design, an expert in typography and an accomplished portrait artist. He is offering portrait drawing classes every Friday morning, AND, he is taking commissions for portraits done in his Lawrence Art Center studio.
    • Gary Schmitt adds the Lawrence Art Center to his long list of places he has taught including Indiana Museum of Art, Ball State, Ivy Tech and the US Army at Fort Harrison.  He is an accomplished graphic designer and a felting artist.
    • Logan Baker is another new teaching artist at the Lawrence Art Center. Logan is an accomplished origami artist.  He can not only twist and fold an ordinary piece of paper into an extraordinary work of art, but he can teach YOU how to do it too!  Look for his class every Sunday evening.
    • Back by popular demand: Cocktails & Create and Kids Create taught by Shakita Kirkland.  Mommy & Me, Reverse Charcoal, and Mat Relief cutting taught by Amber Kalal.  Pottery on the Wheel taught at Lawrence North High School. Tycoon Percussion taught by Adam Riviere.  Belly-dancing taught by Judy Hanna.  Days and times may have changed, please refer to the Class schedule.
    • Coming Soon:  Patty Klunzinger teaches stained glass classes at the Lawrence Art Center!
It's our New Year's resolution to connect with our community (that's YOU) in as many ways possible this year.  We want all community members to feel welcome here at the Lawrence Art Center.  This is not just a place for artists to create masterpieces, but a place for everyone to explore their inner creativity, celebrate their local talents, and meet their neighbors.  Our plan for 2013 is to build partnerships with other community groups who might benefit from our assets.  We'll be offering an art class to the Kiwanis Club in February, and starting a BSA Explorer Club soon too! If you belong to a local group who would like to build a partnership with the Lawrence Art Center, please let us know!

Please, come in and see us!  We are open M-F 10am-5pm and select evenings and weekends (see the class schedule).

We've been telling you for a while to join us for the Holiday Home Tour.  But that's not all the fun we'll have this holiday season.  We have art classes geared toward fun holiday crafting for all ages.  So bring your family in and enjoy some creative fun!

Meanwhile, the year is coming to a close, and we still need your support.  If you are looking to donate to a charitable cause, please consider the Lawrence Art Center and Partnership for Lawrence. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit and are championing the arts in Lawrence as a way to improve business, education and quality of life in the community!

    Happy Holidays!!

If you haven't visited the web site in a while, you will be pleasantly surprised by all the new class listings!  But we aren't done yet. We are working hard to bring back the
Pottery classes - throwing pots on the pottery wheels at Lawrence North High School, The Wine Glass Class - wine tasting paired with painting your own custom glass, Encaustic Painting - painting with wax, and Hand building pottery (we have our own kiln installed!).  We are happy to bring these classes to you without material fees thanks to funding from the Arts Council of Indianapolis.  However, we are always curious about what our community members want from us that we haven't been able to offer before. So, please join our organization and let us know what YOU want from YOUR local Art Center.
